In this 4 week series we will break down the intrinsic techniques of the Ashtanga Vinyasa methodology in easy to digest pieces in order to build an intelligent practice that facilitates the full benefits of vinyasa technique while minimizing repetitive stress and risk of injury.
Workshops run each week from 10AM-11:30AM
Participants are expected to attend all 4 classes and total cost is $60.
Week 1: July 7
Tristhana- breath, bandhas and drishti- Understanding the energetics of Ashtanga Vinyasa and the development of Sun salutations.
Week 2: July 14
A continuation from week 1, we will move on to practice traditional standing postures while learning how to create a strong base.
Week 3: July 28
Bringing our practice to the floor we will learn how to use seated postures to move energy from root to crown.
Week 4: August 4
Completion- learn the proper way to close your practice and safely explore deep back bends and inversions.
Our led Ashtanga classes present the foundational techniques of ujjayi pranayama (yogic breath), bandhas (energy control) and drishti (focused gaze) to draw awareness deep into the body during the practice of yoga asanas (postures). Sequencing will follow a classical vinyasa approach, opening with sun salutations and standing postures, ending with backbends, inversions and savasana, and will include cleansing twists, balancing postures and more from both 1st and 2nd series Ashtanga. Instruction will include alignment detail for all level of practitioners.
